WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (0-0-1) opened their 2026-27 campaign against Nichols (0-0-1) and played to a 3-3 tie as Nichols took the doubles point, the Cougars claimed three singles points, but the final singles match was unable to be completed due to the weather on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles: Nichols 2, Clark 1
- In number three doubles, first-years Adeline Kontos and Julia Hynd recorded a 6-0 victory over Tingle and Maner.
- Senior Olivia Shipley and junior Larkin Gardinier combined to win three games in number one action, but dropped the contest 3-6 against Vallardi and Helly.
- In number two doubles, juniors Amanda Keith and Chau Quach also won three games before falling 3-6 to Giesen and Musumeci.
Singles: Clark 3, Nichols 2
- Shipley registered her first singles victory of the season in number two action with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Helly.
- Kontos recorded her first career singles win as she topped Tingle 6-1, 6-0 in number five action.
- Hynd also tallied her first career singles victory with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Maner in number six play.
- Keith battled with Musumeci and almost took her match three sets in number three action, but was bested 6-7, 4-6.
- In number one singles, Gardinier combined to win two games between the two sets, but dropped the contest 2-6, 0-6 to Vallardi.
- Quach and Giesen were battling in number four singles with Giesen taking the first set 6-3, Quach winning the second set 7-6, and Giesen holding a 4-3 lead in the deciding set before rain canceled the rest of the match.

The Cougars will return to the court on Tuesday afternoon when they welcome the University of Saint Joseph to Corash for a contest beginning at 3:30 p.m.
