Clark Shutout By Keene State, 3-0

Box Score

Worcester, Mass. – Keene State sophomore Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, Mass.) made her homecoming one to remember by registering a pair of goals in the visiting Owls' 3-0 win over Clark in non-league women's soccer action on Wednesday evening.

The win for KSU is their third consecutive victory, improving their record to 5-3, while the Cougars' winless streak extends to four matches in advance of their NEWMAC showdown at Wheaton on Saturday.

Berthiaume put the Owls on the board in the 16th minute when she took a feed from Sia Karamourtopolous (Fremont, N.H.) and fired a shot past Clark netminder Audrey Eisemann (Worcester, Mass.).

Clark had a few opportunities to score early in the contest and couldn't convert. Jenna Zarou (Garden City, N.Y.) hit the post from in close on a loose ball and then Meghan Dempsey (East Weymouth, Mass.) made a pair of saves less than two minutes apart to thwart two Cougar scoring chances.

Keene State was back at it in the opening minutes of the second half when Brittany Croteau (Swanzey, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted marker at 49:20.

Berthiaume then put the contest away in the 87th minute with her team-leading fourth goal with help from Joan Hamel.

Keene State held an 18-11 edge in shots, while both teams had a pair of corner kicks. Eisemann made seven saves for Clark, while Dempsey only needed to turn back five to collect her fifth shutout of the season – and her third straight.

While the Cougars travel to Norton for their matchup with the Lyons, the Owls host Southern Maine.
