Box Score Keene, N.H. - First half goals from Beverly Cole and Shannon Summers boosted Keene State to a 2-0 non-conference win over Clark University in women's soccer action on Wednesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Keene State, which has strung together consecutive wins for the first time this season, is now 4-3. Clark, which has yet to win a game this season, is now 0-6 in 2014.
It took KSC 59 seconds to get the scoring going, as a loose ball in the box found its way to Cole, who stabbed home her first goal of the season.
KSC had more opportunities in the half, with Summers forcing a save from Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md.) and Kali Santino seeing her attempt sail over the crossbar.
The Owls doubled their advantage in the 40th minute. Jennifer Wilson played a perfect ball over the top for Summers to latch onto and she slotted in her second goal in three games.
KSC could have had a third in the 67th minute off a corner kick when the ball fell to Kate Piersiak, but Paolini made the point blank save.
Clark pushed for a goal late in the contest but Dannielle Warhall made the save on a Charlotte Mays (Melrose, Mass.) attempt in the 85th minute.
Paolini finished with seven saves in the Clark net, while Torrie Crenson and Warhall each played 45 minutes in between the pipes for the Owls.
Both teams begin their conference slates this weekend. Keene State opens against Plymouth State University at 1 p.m. on Saturday while the Cougars travel to Smith College for a 1 p.m. kick-off on Saturday as well.
