Box Score Keene, N.H. – Host Keene State scored a single goal in each half and that was more than enough offense for the Owls to earn a convincing 2-0 win over Clark University in non-league field hockey action on Tuesday evening at Owl Stadium.
In the first meeting between the two teams since the 2003 ECAC Semifinals, Keene State held the visiting Cougars without a shot as they controlled play in the offensive end.
Kayla Renaud finally broke through for the Owls midway through the first half when she sent a shot past Clark netminder Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.).
The score was still 1-0 early in the second half when Sami Smith gave KSC an insurance goal when she tipped in a shot by Kendal Brown from the top of the circle off a penalty corner at 53:29.
The Cougars best opportunity of the night came on their lone corner with 2:20 left in the contest, but their insertion pass was intercepted.
Keene dominated on the offensive end, holding a 15-1 advantage on corners but the Clark defense put up a valiant effort, blocking a majority of the shots they faced.
Tinsman finished with five saves between in goal for the Cougars, while Meaghan Dwyer did not see a shot all night on her way to the shutout.
Clark will return to action on Saturday when they play host to Becker at noon.
