-The Lead: The Clark University women's soccer team clinched a 2-1 overtime victory over the Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday night. Sophomore Inonge Kaloustian (Bowie, Md.) netted the golden goal 7:40 into overtime to lift Clark to the non-league victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The visitors got on the board early on when junior Juliana Fleming (Boston, Mass.) netted her first goal of the season just a minute into the match on feeds from junior Sabrina Costa (Fall River, Mass.) and senior Taryn Carley (Kingston, Mass.).
-Freshman Jamie Joseph (Cazenovia, N.Y.) evened the game in the 12th minute of play on an assist from junior Maya Mashkuri (Montpelier, Vt.).
-The second half remained scoreless with each team posting eight shots.
-It was in the first overtime period when sophomore Deanna D'Innocenzo (Medway, Mass.) sent a through ball to Kaloustian who was able to slip the ball past UMass-Dartmouth keeper, Jaimee O'Brien (West Springfield, Mass.), for the 2-1 triumph.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Junior Alison Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) picked up her fourth win of the season with a seven-save effort in goal for Clark, she improves to 4-1-1 on the season.
-O'Brien made 10 stops (one off her career-high) in the setback for UMass Dartmouth. She falls to 3-4-1 on the season.
-The Cougars outshot the Corsairs by a 22-11 margin overall (12-8 on goal), including all four shots in the overtime period, as the hosts also took five of the six corner kicks in the contest.
