Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (1-1) took on WPI (2-0) in the Worcester City Tournament Championship Game and fell 72-48 to the Engineers on Saturday night from Harrington Auditorium.
Junior Jacqueline Faulise was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game across the two Cougar contests.
How it Happened
- WPI opened the game with the first nine points and junior Alaina Schatzabel made a layup with 6:30 to go in the first quarter for Clark's first basket of the game.
- Faulise, Schatzabel, and sophomore Megan Swedberg each scored before the end of the frame with a Swedberg jumper being the last of the first quarter as WPI led 18-7.
- After WPI took a 25-7 advantage, Clark went on an 8-2 run sparked by baskets from senior Jalin Waters and Faulise as well as a pair of made shots from junior Mariah Harris as Clark trailed 30-15 at the break.
- Out of the half, Harris connected on a three-pointer to make it a 34-18 game and a Faulise triple brought Clark within 14 at 35-21 with 8:22 left in the third quarter.
- Harris made another three-pointer on a fast break pass from Faulise to get within 12 at 38-26 and a later Harris layup got Clark as close as 10 from the lead at 42-32 with 4:06 remaining in the third.
- WPI ended the third quarter on an 8-1 run and in the fourth quarter, Clark was outscored 22-15 as Waters led the team with five points in the fourth quarter as WPI won 72-48.
