Box Score WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (1-0) recorded their first win of the season with a season-opening 22-10 victory against St. Joseph's (Conn.) (0-1) on Tuesday afternoon from the USJ Lacrosse Field.
The 22 goals tied the program record that was set in 2020 against Rivier.
How it Happened
- Junior Kiley Simmons netted the first goal and second goals of the season for the Cougars early in the game, with the second goal being assisted by senior Enis Perez to give Clark a 2-1 lead.
- Junior Elysia Hall recorded two goals and an assist over a four-minute stretch, with the goal she dished out going to junior Elizabeth Liakos and Hall's first goal came off a feed from Simmons as the Cougars led 5-2 with 6:13 left in the first quarter.
- Simmons added her third goal of the game with 1:26 to go in the first as Clark led 6-5 after one quarter of action.
- The Cougars scored eight unanswered goals in the second quarter, with three coming from Hall, two from Simmons, and goals from Liakos, Perez, and first-year Aubrey Conners as Clark gained a commanding 14-5 lead with 5:07 left in the second.
- Sophomore Angela Borelli and a man-up goal from Liakos with 1:04 to go in the second proved to be the final goal of the half as Clark led 16-9 at the break.
- Hall netted the first three goals of the third quarter over a four-minute span and Simmons added another goal with 6:08 remaining in the third as Clark led 20-9.
- Conners and first-year Rebecca Murphy scored the final two goals of the game as Clark came away with a convincing 22-10 victory.
