Women's Basketball Cruises to 75-47 Win Against JWU

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (6-5) closed out the 2021 portion of its schedule with a 75-47 win against Johnson & Wales (0-9) on Sunday afternoon from the Kneller Gymnasium.

How it Happened

  • Clark opened the game on a 16-0 run over the first 6:00 minutes of play sparked by five points from graduate student Hannah Favaloro, a three from senior Hallie Johnson, and two points from seniors Emily Sifferlen, Cam Richey, Ginny Benbow, and Julia Beebe.
  • Richey, Johnson, and sophomore Mariah Harris scored to end the quarter as the Cougars took a 21-8 lead after one quarter of play.
  • Sophomore Alaina Schatzabel scored four of Clark's first five points of the second with a pair of layups and Favaloro netted the next four points as the Cougars led 30-15 with 5:42 to go in the second.
  • After the Wildcats pulled within 10, Clark ended the half on a 6-0 run led by four points from sophomore Emma Levesque and a Favaloro layup to take a 36-20 lead into the locker room.
  • Clark opened the second half with 12 unanswered points led by six points from Favaloro and points from sophomore Jacqueline Faulise, Johnson, and Richey to take a 48-20 lead with 6:03 to go in the third before sophomore Mariah Harris connected on a triple to go up 53-22 with 4:19 remaining.
  • Favaloro ended the quarter with six more points and a Levesque layup put the Cougars up 61-32 at the end of the third.
  • Beebe, Sifferlen, and first-year Megan Swedberg led Clark's offense early in the fourth to go up by 26 at 67-41 before Favaloro netted the Cougars final eight points as the Cougars came away with a 75-47 win over JWU.

  • Favaloro led the team with 33 points and 18 rebounds, which was her eighth double-double of the season and the 33 points matched a career-high.
  • Johnson netted seven points and dished out six assists.
  • Richey grabbed nine rebounds, dished out four assists, and recorded four steals.
