MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Clark University men's soccer senior
Diego Marin earned NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier today.
This is Marin's third career weekly honor as he earned the recognition on September 2, 2025 and September 24, 2024.
"I'm proud to see Diego get the recognition he deserves," said head coach
Samuel Matteson. "Along with the backline, Diego has been in great form this season and is a big reason why the team has four clean sheets in the first five games."
Marin (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) registered a pair of shutouts and tallied eight saves as the Cougars posted a 1-0-1 record. The senior opened his week with a pair of saves as the Cougars recorded a 5-0 victory over Nichols. In Clark's NEWMAC opener against Coast Guard, Marin recorded six saves and earned his second shutout of the week in a 0-0 draw.
On the season, Marin has recorded 16 saves, posted three shutouts, earned two wins, and owns a GAA of 0.75. The scarlet and white will return to the pitch on Wednesday night when they welcome Eastern Connecticut State to Granger for a contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
